For many in business the necessary steps taken by Governments to control the spread of COVID-19 has been a shock that could place their immediate future in serious jeopardy.

The Latin Quarter Bar 1520 held a very successful table quiz in aid of the Australian Fire Fighters this week. The quiz and raffle raised on €2385 which has been directly donated to the cause. Thirty-seven teams took part in the general knowledge quiz which had a number of rounds featuring Australian inspired questions.

On Thursday, the 28th of November, the facial hair friendly Quiz Night is taking place in aid of Movember. The night is hosted by GoBus and it’s the time of the year that they ‘Moustache you a question’. The venue on the evening is The Skeff Bar which is located in Eyre Square, adjacent to the Galway Christmas Market. The quiz will be kicking off at 7.30pm with doors open to the public from 7pm. Wear your moustache with pride this November and come challenge yourself to various rounds of Movember related trivia. A fantastic night for a great cause is ensured, and also, fancy dress is very much encouraged.

The Connacht Hospitality Group has recently achieved the Failte Ireland Service Excellence Award across all its properties and is the only hospitality group in Galway to boast this accolade. In order to achieve the “Fáilte Ireland’s Accredited Service Excellence Award,” a business must demonstrate that a minimum of 75% of the management and staff have completed the Fáilte Ireland Service Excellence Programme.

The third annual Irish Hotel Awards were held on the 8th April 2019 in the Galmont Hotel in Galway City. Representatives from the hospitality industry across Ireland came together to celebrate the achievements of an ever-growing and thriving industry.

Hi, my name is Kieran O Malley, I’m from a beautiful part of Mayo called Bonniconlon, located in the foothills of the Ox mountains, close to Ballina. I moved to Galway in 2000 when I came here to study marketing in GMIT and spent seven incredibly happy years in the place, during which time I had the honour of being Student Union President amongst other roles. I currently work as part of the digital marketing team for the Connacht Hospitality team, which includes An Pucan, 1520, Hyde Bar, The Connacht Hotel, The Forster Court Hotel, the Residence Hotel and Active 24 Fitness. Outside work I enjoy soccer and blogging, my blog The Galway Player has helped to develop a greater understanding and appreciation of this amazing city and its people.
